The Stotesbury Cup Regatta, sponsored by the Schuylkill Navy, is the world's oldest and largest high school rowing competition. It is held annually in mid-May over a two-day period along the Schuylkill River near Boathouse Row in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Competing crews come from schools all over North America, though most hail from the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. (Wikipedia)

There is a wealth of information on the Stotesbury Cup Regatta at http://stotesburycupregatta.com/index.php and http://www.boathouserow.org/.

The team will make travel arrangements for the rowers on the TJ boats competing at Stotesbury. Which rowers and boats will compete in these events is determined by the coaches and the success of the team during the season. Participating rowers pay a fee to cover transportation, room and board. Three to four weeks prior to the event, travel costs and details will be sent to parents via email.

Parents of competing rowers must make their own travel arrangements. The TJ Crew Travel Coordinator will block a number of rooms for parents at hotels in the vicinity of the regatta. The TJ Crew bus will shuttle parents and rowers between team hotel and TJ Crew Tent.

Updated 2016 Information:

The coaches plan to take the first, second and third eights (boats) on both the boys’ and girls’ teams, as well as the boys’ and girls’ freshman eight.   Coaches will also take a few alternates in case of illness, injury, etc.  For freshman and novice parents, your child’s coach will be able to predict whether your child’s boat will be competing in this race around the time of spring break

The team will leave on Charter buses for Philadelphia on Thursday morning at TJ. Once we arrive at the venue, the rowers will have a practice.  Preliminary racing begins early Friday morning, and depending upon results, some boats may be selected to row in the semifinals, and finals on Saturday.  The team is back on the bus and headed to TJ at roughly 5:00 p.m. Saturday (depending on how many boats advance to Saturday’s races, and when those races are scheduled), arriving at TJ around 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. for parent pick-up.

There is a block of special-rate rooms reserved for parents in the team block for parents who are staying BOTH Thursday and Friday nights.   The hotel requires a listing of all team members and parent room occupants three weeks prior to arrival.  Parents can cancel room reservations up to 72 hours prior to arrival, however cancellation within 72 hours carries a penalty of one night’s room and tax.  If you anticipate a cancellation, please let Anita Damron know and we will give the room to another parent.  The number of rooms offered to us from the hotel is based upon the number of rooms we occupied last year.  Last minute cancellations will affect the number of rooms we are allotted next year.

If parents wish to attend only one night, there is another block of rooms available at a nearby hotel, and if more rooms open up closer to the team, you will be notified and given the option to change rooms.
