The boats participating in the National Championships Regatta (Nationals) are determined by the results of the state finals:Ted Phoenix Regatta for lower boats and VASRA Championships for the upper boats. The arrangements for the qualifying rowers, coxswains, and alternates are made by the travel coordinator

The Nationals venue is not fixed and it it determined each year. In 2012 and 2013 the Nationals were held at Copper River Lake in New Jersey. The 2014 regatta will be held at Mercer County Lake in West Windsor, NJ. Additional information about Nationals can be found at www.sraa.net.

The team will make travel arrangements for the rowers on the TJ boats competing at Nationals. Which rowers and boats will compete in these events is determined by the coaches and the success of the team during the season. Participating rowers pay a fee to cover transportation, room and board. Information on the travel costs for the rowers will be communicated three to four weeks before the events.

Parents of competing rowers must make their own travel arrangements. The TJ Crew Travel Coordinator will block a number of rooms for parents at a hotel in the vicinity of the regatta. The TJ Crew bus will shuttle parents and rowers between hotel and venue.

Updated 2014 Information:

A block of special-rate rooms has been set aside for the parents at $149.00 a night for Thursday and/or Friday night. Parents (and the team) will be staying at the Hyatt Regency Princeton, 102 Carnegie Center, Princeton, NJ 08540. The link for reservations is: https://resweb.passkey.com/go/ThomasJeffersonParents. The cutoff date for reservations is May 1, 2014. The cancelation policy is a minimum of 24 hours. The reservation link only allows one room to be booked at a time. If you need more than one room, you will need to enter the site twice. If you reserve a room and later find you will not need it, please contact Lisa Layfield before releasing the reservation. Another family may want it.

The races start early in the morning on Friday and Saturday. The team heads to the venue on Thursday morning. Staying Thursday and/or Friday night at the hotel makes it easy to be at the river’s edge by race time. The team is back on the bus and headed to TJ at roughly 5:00 pm Saturday (depending on how many boats advance to Saturday’s races, and when those races are scheduled).
