Now that registration is done and the Ergathon is behind us (Thank You Sara Schneider, for all of your hard work!); we can focus on the next milestone for the year. On-the-water training has arrived and the beginning of race season is just a few weeks away.

For the freshman and novices, this is where the coaches instruct them, teach them how to row, and work together as a boat. For the returning rowers, it’s a time of honing technique and challenging each other to be the best team they can be. It will be a lot of work but it also a lot of fun for everyone involved.

As you may, or may not know, each crew team that participates in the regattas on the Occoquan needs to supply volunteers to help run the races. The number of volunteers required is based on the number of rowers per club. Since we are a larger club, we need to provide more volunteers. Each family must sign up for at least one (1) volunteer slot per season (if you can help out more, it would be much appreciated). To get information on specific jobs: go to the TJ Crew website, click on ‘Regatta Info’ then click the sub-heading, ‘Volunteers’. A link to the signup page is also there, so that you can pick your position and date to help. Please sign up in the next week so that we can make sure we have all our slots filled.

It is nice to see that we have some new freshman and novice parents jumping in to help already; it’s because of that support we have such a great program. Volunteering helps you to know the rowers, meet the other parents, and generally makes the regattas much more fun. Looking forward to seeing everyone in the grandstands!

GO TJ Crew!!!
