Captains Corner - March 2013

posted Mar 24, 2013, 1:36 PM by ha ly
The season is off to a wonderful start! In the past week both the men’s and women’s teams have 2ked with exciting results. It is evident that the hard work from winter training in addition to the first few weeks together on the water has resulted in boatspeed. Lineups are forming as we prepare for regattas. Seat racing and technical work have made up a large portion of practices so far and as seats solidify we are shifting into racing mode! The first race, the Polar Bear regatta, is in just a week!

The freshmen and novices are quickly learning the skills required in the boat, and will have their first race April 6th.

Coach Korzeniowski is going to visit March 16 and coach some of the boats for a practice. It is a great opportunity for us to experience a workout and get advice from an Olympic coach! (Ed. - Coach K's visit has taken place, see Coach Kim's letter above.)

This year’s early spring break brings many practices to look forward to, time to spend with the team, and an opportunity to relax from school and completely focus on rowing! Two-a-day practices will be well worth the effort, and as rowers we all love time on the water!
