TJ Crew is off to a great start. Many of our rowers from both sides performed well at the Junior National Team Identification Camps over the last two weekends. We hope to see many rowers off to exciting opportunities this summer, best of luck! The first race for varsity rowers, the Polar Bear Regatta, is less than two weeks away (3/24). Freshmen and novices will race for the first time the week after (3/31).
Please remember that you cannot race until you have completed your service hours. Varsity/returning team members need 10 hours, new members of the team need 5. If you are not done with your hours, there is an opportunity on Saturday 3/17. After morning practice you can stay at the boathouse from 12:00-3:00 to earn 3 service hours.
Spring Break is quickly approaching. This week is a very important time for all of our boats, as we get final lineups organized and start to focus on May and the championship regattas. There will be several days over spring break where the team has both a morning and afternoon practice. Between practices on those days, one girl near the river will host the girls’ team at her house and the boys team does the same. Hopefully with student drivers, this will reduce the amount of time parents have to spend in their cars. Captains will send out more details on practice times as we get closer to Spring Break.
If you are interested in hosting a pasta party this season, please have your rower contact his/her captains. We will try to organize a team pasta party the Friday before every Saturday regatta. Hosting involves having the team at your house after Friday’s practice, from about 7:00-9:30 pm. Team members provide salad, bread, pasta, sauce, and drinks. If you live within 20 minutes of the river, please consider hosting one so we do not have to use the same house all season. Thanks!
