TJ Crew has finished another memorable season this year.  Both the boys and girls boats participated in 10 regattas, which culminated with the Ted Phoenix Lower Boat Championship Regatta on May 4th and the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championship (States) on May 11th on the Occoquan river, the prestigious Stotesbury Cup Regatta on May 17-18 in Philadelphia, and the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) National Championships Regatta (Nationals) on May 24-25 in Camden, NJ.
Six TJ Crew boats earned six medals at the States: Men’s 2nd Eight (silver), Men’s Junior Eight (bronze), Women’s 3rd Eight (silver), Men’s 3rd Eight (bronze), Women’s 4th Eight (bronze), and Men’s 4th Eight (silver).  We have three boats that qualified for Nationals: Men’s 1st Eight, Men’s 2nd Eight, and Men’s Junior Eight.  We ended the season with 11 first place, 13 second place, and 14 third place standings in the finals we raced. Congratulations to all our rowers for their dedication to crew, hard work, and enthusiasm!  For regattas pictures and videos check out our webpage http://www.tjcrew.org/gallery.
A big Thank You to our enthusiastic and dependable parent volunteers for supporting their kids at Sandy Run practices and at the regattas!
Our last event of the season, the End of Season Picnic, will be held on June 2nd and will be dedicated mostly to our 19 seniors who are graduating this year.  Many of them have been recruited to row for Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Navy, and Princeton.  Congratulations to our seniors!  You will be missed next year!
