  • Fall 2014 Rowing – From Coach Bill Randall Although there are other fall rowing programs, the TJ Crew rowers are recommended to register with Resilient Rowing Club (RRC).  Similar to last fall, RRC will have a competitive and a developmental program.  Acceptance into the competitive program will be based on 4K score, fitness, technical aptitude, and boat moving ability.  To register with RRC, go to www.roninregistration.com/rowing/info.asp?GroupID=174516&p=default&pt=rowing&InfoType=Register   Coach Bill recommends TJ rowers to engage in a fall sport (not necessarily rowing) in preparation for the TJ Crew winter conditioning and spring 2015 season.

  • Summer 2014 Workout Suggestions by Coach Bill Randall The number one requirement is to get out and do something active, do anything active.   The number two requirement is to work on your weakness – if you are not flexible then do yoga or take a stretching class.  If strength is your weakness (no pun intended), then work on getting stronger.  If endurance is where you falter then get out there and do the distance work that will fix that.  If you have a phobia about ergs then do 1,000,000 meters this summer (if you start now it is more than possible).  Of course I would like to see you get in a boat – a small boat is better than a big boat for the summer when possible ...

  • Summer and Fall Rowing - 2014 (By Coach Bill Randall) There are quite a number of opportunities to row outside of the high school season. I am biased toward RRC (Resilient Rowing Club) summer and fall programs since I will coach with RRC both this summer (part time) and this fall (full time), but in the interest of full transparency there are other options that I wanted to let you know about. Please talk to me, email me at cjsb@verizon.net, talk to one of the other coaches, or contact one of the captains about the programs if you have questions. There are also some select opportunities for some of the top rowers during the summer through US Rowing including a junior B (1998 and 1999 birthdays) small boat ...

  • 2014 Regatta Volunteers TJ Crew regatta volunteer jobs at Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association are listed at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E4DADA92CAA8-2014 for sign-up. VASRA JOBS, mostly assigned to TJ by the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association (VASRA). As one of its member schools, we are required to fill these jobs to help run regattas at the Occoquan. Each VASRA job left unfilled would result in a $50 fine, but more importantly, it may affect the safety of our rowers, cause unnecessary delays, inefficient operations, harming our reputation within the rowing community. Thank you for volunteering VASRA jobs to support our Crew Team!
