  • Sandy Run Regattas and Volunteers 101 Click here to view a guide for Sandy Run regattas developed by TJ Crew's Volunteer Coordinator, Rowie Pangilinan, with the help of other booster parents. Families of freshman and novice rowers will find this document particularly helpful as they prepare for the busy spring season.  The document explains the cost of parking, rower drop-off, where to sign in as a VASRA volunteer, the locations of concessions and the TJ food tent, etc. Click here to download >>

  • Summer and Fall Rowing - 2014 (By Coach Bill Randall) There are quite a number of opportunities to row outside of the high school season. I am biased toward RRC (Resilient Rowing Club) summer and fall programs since I will coach with RRC both this summer (part time) and this fall (full time), but in the interest of full transparency there are other options that I wanted to let you know about. Please talk to me, email me at cjsb@verizon.net, talk to one of the other coaches, or contact one of the captains about the programs if you have questions. There are also some select opportunities for some of the top rowers during the summer through US Rowing including a junior B (1998 and 1999 birthdays) small boat ...

  • 2014 Regatta Volunteers TJ Crew regatta volunteer jobs at Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association are listed at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E4DADA92CAA8-2014 for sign-up. VASRA JOBS, mostly assigned to TJ by the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association (VASRA). As one of its member schools, we are required to fill these jobs to help run regattas at the Occoquan. Each VASRA job left unfilled would result in a $50 fine, but more importantly, it may affect the safety of our rowers, cause unnecessary delays, inefficient operations, harming our reputation within the rowing community. Thank you for volunteering VASRA jobs to support our Crew Team!

  • Coach Eric Rothstein’s Retrospectives During his memorable tenure with TJ Crew, Coach Rothstein wrote a series of retrospectives of the Team’s history between 1992 and 2000.  These retrospectives are extremely valuable because they document TJ Crew’s performances from Eric’s personal perspective.  We were not aware of their existence until TJ Alumnus Matt Kurjanowicz (Class of ’03) alerted us of their existence and found them hidden in an Internet archive.  They were linked to previous versions of the TJ Crew website but somehow the link was lost during one of the several website migrations.  The retrospectives are at http://www.tjcrew.org/team-info/history/eric-rothstein-s-retrospectives-1.

  • Mark your calendars now for the away regattas this spring! For my fellow, advance-planning parents, a heads up on TJ Crew’s two away regattas that entail overnight travel. More detailed information, and permission slips, will be sent electronically in early April. The goal of this posting is to allow you to save the date, know what to broadly expect, and reserve hotel rooms, if desired. The first away regatta is St. Andrews on Saturday, April 19, 2014. This is a day event, without overnight travel. It is a beautiful course and a highlight of the season. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. The first two-day regatta of the season is the Stotesbury Cup Regatta on May 16 & 17, 2014 in Philadelphia, PA. For Stotesbury, the ...

  • Additional Ergathon addressing parties at winter training There will be additional addressing parties at winter training so that we can get full participation before the Ergathon. Any team members who have not brought in their forms and addressed them at training, please bring them in by January 28, 2014 if you are currently training or by February 4 if you are just joining the team. The TJ Crew Ergathon is a wonderful team-building event. It marks the end of winter training and the beginning of spring training. The team works together to pull dozens of ergometers (ergs) a combined total distance of 1,000,000 meters. It is usually the first event of the year that the entire team attends. This year’s Ergathon is rescheduled ...
